About the Role
University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance and repairs across our hospital sites, including Southampton General and Princess Anne.
- Work with a variety of tools and equipment to complete tasks, from routine maintenance to critical emergency fixes and longer-term projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver our unique services and support the learning and development of new skills.
Requirements
- Time served apprenticeship from a recognized body or equivalent in an Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Services discipline.
- Expert specialist training in electrical/mechanical services, systems, and equipment, including fault-finding, repair, inspection, and commissioning.
- Vocational qualifications following training/courses to satisfy the Trust's complex nature of equipment.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Member of registered/professional bodies such as the IHEEM, IMechE, CISBE for the jobholder's specialist field.
- Practical experience within the building services engineering contracting and maintenance industries, within the NHS or similar government organization.
- Competent Person Sterilisation, Competent Person Washer/Disinfectors, Competent Person Confined spaces, Competent Person Steam, Competent Person Medical Gas, Competent Person Water Hygiene AP LV as per HTM 06-02.
