About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Site Operations Manager to join our team at First Recruitment Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of PT activities on site, including set-up, customer relations, project reporting, discipline, and efficiency.

You will ensure that the entire construction phase is managed in accordance with our company's health, safety, and environmental policy and procedures, as well as meeting the customer's reasonable requirements under the contract.

The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical and electrical construction and installation techniques, as well as knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and the roles and duties of the Principal Contractor and Contractor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage site procedures to ensure that site works are conducted to the satisfaction of the customer and meet the client's PT standards.
  • Review the Health and Safety plan, Site Quality Plan, and Project Plan for the works to assess any special needs of the project related to site establishment or activities.
  • Provide information to the Project Team about site conditions and activities to assist in resource planning.
  • Assign suitable staff or hourly rated employees to specific tasks within the project to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Ensure timely preparation of risk assessments and control measures necessary to allow activities on site to continue.
  • Request and review sub-contractor proposed plans for the works and seek further clarification or detailed method statements if necessary.
  • Review the progress of sub-contractor work on site to ensure it meets the required standard and relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation are being observed.
  • Provide managerial support to the Project Manager in day-to-day management of the project and liaise with other staff and contractors to resolve problems in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain site programmes of works and provide necessary site inputs to the Planning Section.
  • Ensure all company obligations on site are met as Principal Contractor or Contractor under Construction Design and Management legislation.

Requirements:

  • Experience in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of all elements of substation primary and secondary plant and equipment.
  • Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and a detailed understanding of the roles and duties of the Principal Contractor and Contractor.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills from contractor level to client senior management.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE in construction.
  • Computer literate.
  • Experience of budget and construction programme planning and management.

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
