Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and integrating complex systems using SysML models and textual sub-system specifications.

Liaising with Domain Subject Matter Experts to elaborate or further explore complex functional behaviour will also be a key responsibility.

Additionally, the individual will create functional test cases / specifications to generate progressive assurance and verification evidence.

A strong understanding of traceability mechanisms between requirements and test cases is essential.

The Engineer for System Design and Integration will collaborate with the Systems Engineering Team to ensure valid, traceable, feasible, and evidential test cases.

The role requires liaising with the wider Systems Integration Team to ensure pragmatic, comprehensive, realistic, and achievable test cases.

Furthermore, the Engineer may be required to execute System Test Cases within an Integration Laboratory environment.

Providing regular progress updates to the Project Management and Systems Integration Management teams is a critical aspect of this role.

The ideal candidate will identify, report, and propose mitigation for risks, issues, and dependencies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Analyse functional requirements modelled in SysML and defined within textual sub-system specifications.
  2. Liaise with Domain Subject Matter Experts to elaborate or further explore complex functional behaviour.
  3. Create functional test cases / specifications to generate progressive assurance and verification evidence.
  4. Define traceability mechanisms between requirements and test cases.
  5. Liaise with the Systems Engineering Team to ensure valid, traceable, feasible, and evidential test cases.
  6. Liaise with the wider Systems Integration Team to ensure pragmatic, comprehensive, realistic, and achievable test cases.
  7. (Potentially) execute System Test Cases within an Integration Laboratory environment.
  8. Provide regular progress updates to the Project Management and Systems Integration Management teams.
  9. Identify, report, and propose mitigation for risks, issues, and dependencies.
Requirements
  • Educational background in Electronics, Systems Engineering, or Systems Integration.
  • Ability to read and interpret SysML Models, especially Sequence and Internal Block Diagrams.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret textual functional requirements.
  • Experience of writing detailed test cases to verify complex system behaviour.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications; Word, Excel, Visio etc.
  • Ability to interpret application layer protocol specifications.
  • Familiarisation with Model Based Systems Engineering (CAMEO preferred).
  • Familiarisation with DOORS Requirements Management software.
  • Familiarisation with Teamcenter Product Lifecycle Management software.
  • Familiarisation with analysis tools and software such as Vector CANoe and Wireshark etc.
  • Familiarisation with ISO 11898 CAN or MilCAN.
  • Familiarisation with ethernet protocols.
  • Familiarisation with serial communication protocols.
  • Experience of Weapon Systems integration, test, or design.
  • Experience in the Defence Industry.
