Unqualified Teacher Job Description

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Unqualified Teacher to join our client schools in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain classroom experience and develop their teaching skills in a supportive environment.

Job Summary:

As an Unqualified Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality education to students. You will work under the guidance of qualified teachers, assisting with lesson planning, delivery, and assessment, ensuring all students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Deliver lessons to students in the absence of a qualified teacher, ensuring a high standard of education is maintained.
  • Provide support to students with varying abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to assist with their learning and development.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Support the management of classroom behaviour to ensure a safe and conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and school staff to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and achievements.
Essential Requirements:
  • Holding UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is not necessary. A master's degree or PGCE is preferable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A genuine passion for education and a desire to make a difference in students' lives.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
