The Role
  • To take blood samples from patients, ensuring correct order of draw, and safe specimen handling using appropriate PPE.
  • To become familiar with all tests and precautions associated with the collection of blood samples for all pathology disciplines.
  • Provide cover for other phlebotomy staff within the hospital, in community clinics, and domiciliary service as directed by the phlebotomy supervisors.
Requirements
  • 5 GCSE O levels or equivalent which must include English or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
  • At least 12 months experience as a phlebotomist in a healthcare setting.
