Job Summary
As a Senior Specialist Nurse Microbiology Leader, you will be responsible for developing the nursing and administrative team, becoming a subject matter expert in infectious disease aspects of blood safety and an ambassador for donors and recipients.

Main Responsibilities
• Assessing and making strategic recommendations for the service's ongoing development, ensuring it remains fit for purpose.
• Delivering microbiology education to all levels of staff internally and to postgraduate specialist students.
• Being a microbiology nursing subject matter expert, participating in research relating to microbiological risks to recipients.
• Managing the scientific secretariat for organisational governance meetings.
• Managing safe, timely, and auditable investigations into possible transfusion transmitted infections and donor lookback investigations.
• Providing visible management and positive leadership to the Microbiology Nursing Service.

About You
As a highly experienced nurse, you will have a strong background in microbiology and project management, with a proven track record of leading teams and managing budgets. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.

Qualifications and Training
You will hold a degree in a relevant healthcare subject and have a proven leadership and management qualification. You will also have a valid driving licence, allowing you to drive in the UK.
