About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Electronics Design Engineer to join our team at Newcastle University. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for developing cutting-edge power electronics and control expertise to enable the further scale-up of electrification across larger vehicles in commercial fleets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-power and highly efficient electric Power Take Off (ePTO) technology
  • Develop high-power on-board bidirectional wireless charger using state-of-the-art semiconductor technologies
  • Collaborate with our engineering team to produce a demonstration system
  • Ensure the effective transfer of knowledge through workshops, reports, training materials, and mentoring
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience in modelling, design, and simulation of power electronic converters and control
  • Experience in control methodologies of power electronics, including voltage regulation and fast dynamic response
  • Experience with power electronics simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS
  • Knowledge of wide band-gap power electronic circuits, hardware layout, and PCB design
  • Ability to work in laboratory environments, designing, constructing, and testing power electronic converters and control platforms
