Our ethos is centered around trauma-informed and relational approaches to behavior, recognizing the unique needs of each child and fostering positive relationships.

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Early Years Teaching Assistant to support our youngest learners in their educational journey.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Early Years team to assist in creating a safe, engaging, and enriching learning environment that promotes the development and well-being of every child.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of engaging activities that meet the diverse needs of Early Years children.

  • Work with small groups and individuals, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Assist with the personal, social, and emotional development of children, promoting resilience and independence.

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with children, understanding behavior as a form of communication.

  • Provide help with practical aspects of classroom management, including setting up resources, tidying, and ensuring health, safety, and welfare standards.

  • Collaborate with teachers and the wider support team, including pastoral and attendance staff, to ensure each child receives holistic support.

  • Maintain accurate records of children's progress and contribute to assessments as required.

  • Uphold the school's trauma-informed and relational behavior approach, and be able to respond to children calmly, empathetically, and positively with consistency.

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children, patience, and an understanding of early childhood development.

Experience in a similar role or setting is beneficial but not essential; what matters most is your dedication to the well-being and development of our children.

You will:

  • Be enthusiastic and passionate about working with children and supporting their development.

  • Engage in and promote high-quality interactions with children.

  • Have a reflective and adaptable approach, willing to continually improve and grow professionally.

  • Committed to creating an inclusive environment that supports the diverse needs of all learners.

  • A confident communicator both verbally and written.

  • A proactive team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues.

  • Eager to engage in CPD and stay updated on the latest educational and Early Years practices.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about working with children and supporting their learning.

  • A relevant qualification (such as a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education, Childcare, or equivalent).

  • A good general standard of education including GCSE English and Maths to Grade C or equivalent.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with children, colleagues, and parents.

  • Understanding of trauma-informed and relational approaches, or willingness to learn and embrace our school's ethos.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is essential.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and supportive school culture.

Benefits

  • A supportive and welcoming school environment.

  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.

  • A chance to be part of a vibrant school community committed to inclusivity and innovation.

Estimated Salary: £25,887 - £29,055 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
