Position Summary:

As an Animal Technician, your core responsibility will be to assist in the daily care and welfare of animals within our partner facilities. If you possess a home office license, you may also engage in regulated activities. Additional tasks will be available for those with pertinent experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about innovations in animal technology and suggest new methodologies as necessary.
  • Demonstrate the qualities of an exemplary animal technician.
  • Perform daily husbandry, care, and welfare assessments for all animals in the facility.
  • As a Personal Licensee under the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, oversee experimental activities within the parameters of Project Licences at the establishment. Collaborate with licensees to grasp their needs.
  • Document observations, maintain precise records, and archive data in both written and electronic formats.
  • Contribute to the overall upkeep of the facility and monitor environmental conditions in designated areas.
  • Utilize equipment safely and effectively.
  • Support tasks in other sectors of the Biological Resources Unit, as required.
