Kingston upon Thames, Greater London, United Kingdom Achieving for Children Full time

About the Role

The Adolescent Safeguarding Manager plays a pivotal role within Achieving for Children’s Adolescent Safeguarding Team, overseeing a team of five social workers, including at least one senior social worker. The team delivers statutory social work with adolescents aged 13-17 who have been referred due to contextual harm, including child criminal or sexual exploitation and serious youth violence.

As the Adolescent Safeguarding Manager, you will review contacts and referrals, identifying risk and establishing early safety measures. You will work closely with police, education, and health partners to hold strategies and deliver robust responses to harm in the community.

The team holds child-in-need or child protection plans as appropriate, working with families and partners to keep children safe at home. If interventions are not working, children may be considered for the SHIFT team to provide long-term support. You will ensure that visits are carried out as required and that social workers deliver meaningful direct work and interventions.

About You

  • You are a social work manager passionate about reducing exploitation and harm in the community, working alongside young people and their families.
  • You see adolescence as a time of significant change and opportunity to influence positive self-identity and choices for the best life into adulthood.
  • You are skilled at identifying risks, analysing information from various sources, and formulating clear direction to support social workers in their delivery of plans.
  • You are experienced at delivering direct work, supporting social workers in their direct work with adolescents to identify positive life goals, understand and respond to risk safely, and have healthy relationships.
  • You work well with other professionals to ensure the best services are offered to vulnerable young people.
