Financial Controller

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team at Bagnall Hopkins Recruitment. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our clients, ensuring compliance with UKGAAP standards, and providing strategic financial guidance.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the general running of the company, working closely with the management team to achieve business objectives.
- Manage a team of accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of financial processes.
- Oversee the operation of purchase and sales ledgers, including credit control, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Manage accounting procedures and controls, ensuring compliance with UKGAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit weekly cash forecasts, providing financial insights to inform business decisions.
- Produce and submit monthly accounts packages, including analysis and commentary, to the Group.
- Present financial reports at bi-monthly management meetings, providing clear and concise financial insights.
- Liaise with external parties, including auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance with all financial and regulatory requirements.
- Provide ad-hoc reports and analysis to support business decisions, working closely with the management team.
- Manage employee absence and disciplinary issues, ensuring compliance with employment regulations.
- Submit monthly reports to Group HR, providing updates on employee absence and disciplinary issues.
- Ensure compliance with all employment regulations, including health and safety, data protection, and employment law.
- Manage and liaise with third-party providers for DC and DB pensions schemes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Purchase and prepare new equipment, including PCs and printers, to support business operations.
- Manage local IT infrastructure, including servers and networks, in conjunction with Group IT.
- Provide local support for employee IT problems, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Manage the company website, ensuring accuracy and relevance of financial information.
- Manage health and safety policies, risk assessments, accidents, and training, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Present health and safety reports to bi-monthly management meetings, providing updates on key issues and initiatives.
- Manage reporting to Companies House and maintain company registers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent role.
- Strong knowledge of UKGAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise financial insights.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on delivering results.
- Strong IT skills, with experience of financial systems and software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results.
