Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Mental Health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to pupils with SEMH, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, educational psychologists, and other professionals to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and delivery, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with challenging behaviors, using positive reinforcement techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, attendance, and behavior.
Requirements:
  • Relevant experience working with children with SEMH or SEN.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, behavior management, and special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • DBS clearance and up-to-date first aid training.
