Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Residential Child Care Specialist to join our team at Ramsden Hall Academy, a residential special school for boys aged 10 to 16 with EHCP for Social, Emotional and Mental Health.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting students from school time to bedtime and morning, making healthy snacks, agreeing activities, and encouraging students to get changed and shower.

A strong emphasis on activities to learn new skills and develop confidence and self-regulation is essential in this role. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working with children and young people with SEMH and be able to work as part of a highly effective team.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around £22,000 - £25,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students from school time to bedtime and morning
  • Make healthy snacks, agree activities, and encourage students to get changed and shower
  • Organize at least one physical activity and eat together at dinner time
  • Help with school work, watch TV, or a film before bedtime
  • Attend residential holidays and undertake driving duties as required
  • Write and agree placement plans, risk assessments, and review reports
  • Support in the school for on-call duties, activity events, and training

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children and young people with SEMH
  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, and Email or willingness to learn
  • NVQ Level 3 in Child/Young Persons Care or equivalent is desirable
  • Driving licence qualifications to drive a D1 mini bus is desirable
  • Ability to work as part of a highly effective team and be enthusiastic, reliable, and committed
  • Ability to manage confidential data and adapt to changing circumstances
