About Us

Leonardo is a global leader in electronic and information technologies, delivering innovative solutions for defence systems, aerospace, data, infrastructures, land security, and sustainable 'smart' solutions.

Your Role

Salary: £32,000 with a welcome bonus and potential Temporary Accommodation Allowance if you relocate for the role

Job Description:

You will join our 12-month Graduate Programme as a Leonardo Graduate Electronics Engineer, supporting the design and development of world-leading electro-optical, communications, and information system products under the guidance of experienced Electronics Engineering Leads.

You will be introduced to state-of-the-art methods, technology, and tools to explore all aspects of the development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, test, acceptance, and product support.

You will interface with customers (internal and external) on various factors within the design and liaise closely with Engineers from all other disciplines, including Mechanical, Software, Systems, Supportability, and Design Integrity.

Electronics Engineers at Leonardo design, document, build, and test electronics circuits and firmware designs to go into our various systems. You might be involved in designing for mixed signal design, power supply design, DAC/ADC, FPGA, high-speed serial interfaces, and video/communication processing algorithms.

The opportunity will be there to engage with all of these technologies across a diverse range of products, including Thermal Imaging Cameras, Vehicle Camera systems, Counter UAV systems, Precision Guidance systems, and Electronic Warfare products.

You will gain exposure to other engineering disciplines and business areas, developing expertise in the design of circuits, FPGAs, and subsystems at various stages in the product lifecycle.

This includes requirements capture, performance analysis, design, code, verification, validation, and support to integration and qualification.

Requirements

We are looking for individuals with an Electronics biased degree, including modules covering topics such as digital design, analogue design, and signal processing.

Experience of using PCB design and simulation tools is also essential.

You should have a passion for solving complex engineering problems and the drive to learn the skills required to become a professional Electronics Engineer.

You should also be able to work to tight timescales and as a contributory engineering team member.

Additionally, you will undertake day-to-day engineering activities with some guidance and support, managing your own development towards attaining Electronics Engineer level through the Graduate Development Programme over 12 months.

Continuing professional development throughout your career is crucial, which may aid performance.

It is also essential to ask for support where appropriate, learn from more experienced team members, contribute to engineering team decisions, and understand why such decisions are made and their relationship to project success criteria.

Exploring new experiences and opportunities to learn within the engineering environment is also encouraged.

Sharing good practice and knowledge locally to continuously improve your practices is also expected.

Benefits

We offer a company-funded benefits package, a commitment to learning and development, and a flexible approach to working hours focused on the needs of both our employees and customers.

This includes flexible hours with hybrid working options, access to private healthcare, dental schemes, Workplace ISA, Go Green Car Scheme, technology, and lifestyle options (£500 annual allowance).

You will also receive 25 days plus bank holidays, option to buy/sell leave, and accrue up to 12 additional flexi leave days per year.

Award-winning pension scheme (up to 10% employer contribution) is also available.

We value employee wellbeing, offering Employee Assistance Programme with access to free mental health support, financial wellbeing support, and network groups to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to diversity & inclusion.

Discounted Gym membership, Cycle to work scheme, free access to more than 4000 online courses via Coursera, and referral incentive for successfully referring a friend or family member are also available.
