Purchasing Director Opportunity

Polytec Personnel Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Director to lead our procurement activities for a client based in the Cambridge area. This is a permanent role that requires a full, clean driving licence and the ability to travel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy to drive business growth and improve efficiency.
  • Identify, select and approve new suppliers, ensuring they meet our quality and cost requirements, and negotiate contractual agreements.
  • Implement cost reduction targets and lean inventory management practices to optimize procurement processes.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to support customer demand and establish an escalation path for purchasing and supplier issues.
  • Continuously improve purchasing processes and implement cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives to drive business success.
  • Manage the introduction of new products and oversee international travel requirements to support global supply chain operations.
Requirements:
  • Degree in a relevant field, such as supply chain management or business administration, and MCIPS qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in supply chain management within electronics, telecommunications or consumer goods, with a proven ability to manage complex global supplier and customer relationships.
  • Team management experience, with a focus on leadership and development, and excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Dynamics AX.
  • Experience of offshore contract manufacturing management and ability to influence at senior level to drive business growth.
