About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Master Historian to join our dedicated team at Wayman Learning Trust, a leading independent boys school in Hammersmith, West London. As a passionate advocate of history education, you will inspire and engage students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, fostering a deep understanding of historical events, figures, and concepts.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching history, with the ability to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that encourage critical thinking and effective communication. Your expertise in curriculum development will enable you to contribute to the planning and delivery of a stimulating History curriculum, incorporating diverse sources, perspectives, and historical interpretations.

You will be an active member of our supportive department, collaborating with colleagues to provide a collaborative and inclusive working environment. In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you will play an essential role in pastoral care, supporting the wellbeing and personal development of students.

Key Responsibilities
  • To deliver high-quality History lessons, inspiring students to develop a love of history and achieve academic excellence.
  • To facilitate lively debates and discussions, encouraging students to think critically and express their ideas effectively.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of a dynamic History curriculum, incorporating innovative teaching methods and approaches.
  • To support the pastoral care of students, promoting their wellbeing and personal growth.
Requirements
  • A degree in History or a related subject and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A strong passion for History education and the ability to convey this enthusiasm to students.
  • An excellent understanding of historical periods, themes, and research methodologies.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team, sharing best practices and contributing to the growth and development of colleagues.
