Job Title: General Practitioner Position in Primary Care Network
Job Summary
We are seeking an autonomous General Practitioner to join our team in the Preston Park Community Primary Care Network. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and treat patients in a primary care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centred, evidence-based care that addresses the medical needs of the local patient population.
- Ensure all medical services provided align with the standards and obligations set out in the primary care contract.
- Implement safe, effective, and cost-efficient prescribing practices.
- Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD, and asthma through regular reviews and treatment adjustments.
- Participate in telephone triage and duty doctor responsibilities.
- Ensure patient records are accurately and promptly updated.
- Contribute to the practice team by taking on a fair and equitable share of clinical and administrative duties.
- Follow established clinical guidelines for patient care and actively participate in audits to ensure quality improvement.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns.
- Support practice-wide initiatives aimed at improving patient care and service delivery.
- Take ownership of specific areas of the QOF.
- Participate in practice meetings to discuss clinical issues and operational challenges.
- Play an active role in ensuring the practice meets its clinical governance obligations.
- Take part in regular appraisals and engage in feedback discussions.
- Maintain your professional credentials and ensure you are prepared for the GMC revalidation process.
- Take responsibility for your ongoing education and professional development.
- Actively participate in the education and supervision of medical students and trainees.
- Work collaboratively with practice partners to help achieve strategic goals.
- Ensure that you are familiar with, and consistently follow, the practice's protocols and policies.
- Foster a team-based approach to care by maintaining regular communication with all practice staff.
- Engage in clinical audits as requested.
- Take part in initiatives that support the improvement of local healthcare services.
Requirements
- GMC Registration
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong IT skills
- Clear, polite telephone manner
- Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
- Effective time management (planning and organising)
- Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
Desirable Skills/Knowledge/Experience
- Knowledge of General Practice Clinical Systems
- Experience of Medicine Management
- Experience of ICB Initiatives
