Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Academic Support Professional to join our team at Academics Ltd. as a specialist support worker for two autistic students in Year 5.

About the Role:

This is a full-time, term-time only position, requiring you to work closely with small groups of students and provide one-to-one support to help them navigate school life with confidence.

You will work alongside the Year 5 teacher and SENCO to adapt academic content and develop coping strategies tailored to individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Support: Provide tailored support to two autistic students, helping them stay engaged and calm in the classroom.
  • Adaptive Lesson Planning: Modify and adapt lesson content to meet individual needs, making tasks manageable and enjoyable.
  • Sensory Management: Guide students in managing stress and sensory challenges during transition times and new experiences.
  • Small Group Interventions: Work with small groups on phonics and targeted academic interventions to build foundational skills and boost confidence across subjects.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the Year 5 teacher and SENCO to align on progress and strategies.

Requirements:

  • SEN Experience: A minimum of 1 year's experience in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a primary school setting.
  • Patience and Empathy: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Qualifications: GCSEs or equivalent, preferably with relevant qualifications in education or a related field.
