Rothamsted Research, a leading agricultural science institute, seeks two full-time Glasshouse Assistants to provide exceptional horticultural support at its Harpenden site. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar role, relevant qualifications or equivalent, and a keen interest in plant care.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring healthy plant material through proper watering, providing high-quality plant care, setting up and servicing irrigation systems, applying innovative techniques to solve horticultural challenges, and maintaining facilities at optimal levels. A significant portion of the job involves cleaning the plant growing facilities and associated areas to meet the Institute's high standards. Knowledge and experience with common plant pest and disease management techniques, including pesticide application, would be beneficial.

This fixed-term contract position (3 years initially) offers a salary of £22,011 per annum for 37 hours per week, depending on previous experience. In addition to regular hours, the post holder must join a weekend watering rota (1 in 5 weekends) and be available to cover periods when the site is closed, which will be paid according to Rothamsted Research overtime payments.
