As a Software Engineer at Flutter UK & Ireland, you will be part of the Reacting Swiftly squad within the UK&I Sports Experience Tribe. Your primary focus will be on crafting high-quality software solutions that seamlessly blend Swift and React Native technologies. You will contribute to maintaining our existing Swift application, which provides entertainment to over 1 million active customers a month, while actively being involved in the integration of a React Native codebase.
Key Responsibilities
• Turn concepts and requirements into beautifully crafted native mobile applications, using a combination of Swift, Objective-C, and React Native.
• Actively participate in app feature design POCs, data flows, and detailed technical designs.
• Maintain our code quality and have a good grasp of the overall app you are working on and how it meets the needs of the end users and business objectives.
• Understand the importance of non-functionals such as battery usage, app start-up time, and overall UX. Ensuring our apps perform well to deliver the best user experience possible for all our customers is something you consider as part of the normal delivery process.
• Be an engaged member of the team, actively collaborating with other team members, working together to help everyone improve their skills.
• Be familiar with our continuous integration pipelines to enhance deployment processes.
• Work with other Engineers, technical, and non-technical stakeholders, and architects to envision, design, and deliver industry-leading apps and to set a sustainable forward strategy.
Requirements
• Experience contributing to production codebases and both Swift and React Native codebases.
• Experience of mobile architecture patterns and an understanding of when these are best applied.
• Good working knowledge of Git version control, including an understanding of common branching strategies, merging, resolving conflicts, and cherry-picking.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and to understand and propose effective solutions independently, as well as troubleshoot and debug issues in cross-platform mobile applications.
• Familiarity and experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, and the ability to work in an iterative and collaborative development environment.
• Willingness to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in the mobile development world.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment of mobile applications is a nice to have.
