BIMM Institute is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join their team. As a key member of the institute’s health and safety team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of students, staff, and visitors on campus.


As Senior Health & Safety Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating and enhancing health and safety compliance across our campus. This role is crucial in fostering a safe and secure environment, and you will lead the implementation of health and safety policies, ensuring our campus adheres to the highest standards.


","Key Responsibilities": "
  • Actively promote safety awareness and encourage a culture of health and safety compliance through information dissemination, training, and initiatives.
  • Lead the execution of health and safety policies and procedures at the campus level.
  • Ensure an adequate number of trained first aiders and fire wardens are available on campus at all times.
  • Collaborate with the People team to identify health and safety training needs and arrange for external trainers as necessary.
  • Delegate health and safety tasks, including routine testing, inspections, audits, risk assessments, and addressing accidents and near misses.
  • Oversee the deployment and use of health and safety software/systems on campus.
  • Ensure all external venues and activities comply with health and safety standards.
  • Collect, monitor, and report on health and safety performance data.
  • Address non-compliance concerns and escalate issues to the Building and Technical Services Manager when necessary.
  • Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses.

Applicants must have a good standard of general education, including English and Maths.


The ideal candidate will have extensive understanding of health and safety legislation and proven experience in carrying out risk assessments, health and safety inspections, and audits.


An IOSH qualification is desirable, and the ability to demonstrate success in deploying health and safety policies or procedures is essential.


The successful candidate will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent inter-personal and collaboration skills, and be adaptable and responsive to changing needs.


Familiarity with digital tools and software will be an asset.
