We are seeking an experienced High-Performance Network Automation Specialist to join our team at Imperial College London. As a key member of our Networks group, you will be responsible for driving the automation of our network infrastructure, reducing toil and enhancing reliability.

Our large campus network, two data centres, and extensive public cloud presence require a skilled professional to configure and operate them from a central source of truth. Your role will involve defining, constructing, and supporting the tools and systems needed to achieve this goal.

You will work closely with the Head of Networks and Principal Network Engineer to ensure that automation capabilities and operational simplicity are a central consideration in the continuous evolution of the network. Additionally, you will be a subject matter expert for network automation, providing advice and guidance to other team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and support network automation products.
  • Perform full life-cycle management of active network equipment.
  • Ensure the reliability and performance of the network through automated monitoring and statistics gathering.
  • Provide input to the strategy, roadmap, and change delivery plans for the network.
  • Eliminate recurring issues through automation or process changes.
Requirements:
  • Degree-level education in Computing, Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Extensive experience with network protocols, including MPLS, BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, SNMP, and IPv6.
  • Expert knowledge of network operating systems, particularly Juniper Junos.
  • Python programming/scripting skills.
  • Familiarity with programmable interfaces on network equipment.
