The NAES Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Power Plant Operations Specialist to join our team in Peterborough, UK. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our peaking facilities, which comprise two power installations: a simple cycle peaking 2-unit combustion turbine and a reciprocating peaking facility equipped with 5 Wärtsilä 34SG units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the plant to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, as well as statutory requirements.
  • Perform start-up, shut-down, and normal operations of power plant systems.
  • Carry out routine duties to maintain plant commercial performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Diagnose and report plant and control system faults, considering safety of persons and process safety.
  • Apply relevant operational standards and procedures.
  • Report operational events and provide information to support site maintenance activities.
  • Produce and maintain site documentation and procedures.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers, and third-party suppliers.
  • Optimize commercial opportunities through plant operation.

Requirements

  • Experience in power plant operations, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory standards.
  • Technical proficiency in performing start-up, shut-down, and routine operations of power plant systems.
  • Strong skills in plant and control system fault diagnosis and reporting, with a comprehensive understanding of safety protocols and process safety considerations.
  • Appreciation of commercial aspects of power generation business, including optimizing commercial opportunities through plant operation.
  • Good teamwork and interpersonal skills, working flexibly within a small team, and effectively liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in IT, including numeracy and literacy skills, to effectively utilize computerized systems and maintain documentation.
  • Ability to rigorously follow procedures, instructions, and processes, ensuring adherence to operational and safety protocols.
  • Operations or engineering qualification, or study towards an engineering qualification, providing a solid foundation in plant operations and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulatory requirements, along with an understanding of power station operations, technical procedures, and safety rules.
  • Valid driver's license at all times.
