Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse on our Brightlingsea Ward. This part-time role will cover maternity leave until 4th May 2025, working 30 hours per week.

The ward is a 30-bedded emergency surgical ward specialising in colorectal and upper GI, urology, and ENT admissions. As a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, you will support the unit sister in leading and developing the nursing team, promoting multi-disciplinary working to deliver a patient-centred, clinically effective, and dynamic service.

This role requires a commitment to providing a quality service and a supportive teaching environment. It is desirable for the successful candidate to have surgical experience.

Main Duties

As a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, you will effectively manage and develop a nursing team, providing professional and clinical leadership in the delivery of high-quality, safe, and cost-effective care to patients and their families.

You will provide inspirational leadership to the department, being positively welcoming, effective, and a credible role model. You should be caring, compassionate, forward-thinking, well-organised, and have a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.

Education and Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse First Level
  • Post-registration qualification relevant to the area up to postgraduate diploma level
  • ILS certificate as relevant to the area
  • Student assessor

  • Nursing/Management degree
  • Willingness to undertake further academic study
  • NVQ assessors qualification

  • Experience leading teams
