About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Operations Assistant to join our team at National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED). As a key member of our Accounts Payable team, you will play a vital role in delivering a professional service to our internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and check invoice documentation, including statutory checks for VAT.
  • Communicate with business representatives and external customers to resolve enquiries and outstanding invoice and payment queries.
  • Investigate statements, queries, and obtain credit notes from suppliers for pricing errors or short deliveries.
  • Operate, administer, and understand numerous transaction processes and payment procedures for suppliers, corporate & procurement card schemes, wayleaves, non-orders, and foreign payments.
  • Payment transaction administration for Bacs & cheques.
  • Adhere to reporting, control, and reconciliation procedures.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a similar environment and diplomacy and communication skills to manage customer relationships.
  • Knowledge of internal procedures and systems, as well as awareness of associated statutory requirements and compliances.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel.
  • Good interpersonal skills, self-confidence, and ability to work unsupervised in a team environment and prioritize tasks to ensure deadlines are achieved.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment and align skills to different stakeholders.
  • Strong results orientation.
