About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Services Engineer to join our team at Iceland. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our Head Office and depot in Deeside, near Chester.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the office, depot, and associated facilities are maintained to the highest possible standards, adhering to legislation and best practice.
  • Work collaboratively with the department on both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Monitor and maintain large industrial ammonia refrigeration plants, ensuring optimal performance levels.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to ensure company compliance.
  • Utilize the CMMS (shire) system to ensure regular maintenance is carried out.
  • Perform regular mandatory checks, including:
    • General and emergency lighting maintenance/installation
    • Legionella control
    • Refrigeration plant maintenance
    • Dock leveller maintenance
    • Access equipment/MHE maintenance
    • Maintain building management systems, with a focus on Trend.
    • Maintain stock levels to ensure safe, effective, and efficient operations with minimal disruption.
    • Install new plant and equipment.
    • Continuously assess plant performance to ensure optimal energy and operational efficiency.
    • Undertake internal office furniture/equipment handling, removals, and relocation, including conference/training rooms and audio visual equipment setup.
    • Perform planned and reactive plumbing and drainage maintenance.
    • Inspect and repair pallet racking.
    • Conduct research and development for ongoing projects to ensure best practice within the industry.
    • Perform electrical testing and fault finding.
Finance and Contract Management
  • Assist the facilities manager in ensuring all contractual obligations are met, with minimal disruption.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance are carried out within budget, with any foreseen expenditure highlighted with clear parameters.
Technical and Interpersonal Skills Required
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as current Health and Safety legislation, Control of Legionnaires Disease, and Electricity at Work Act.
  • Ability to make decisions on behalf of the company regarding preventative and remedial maintenance, with commensurate technical evaluation skills.
  • Initiative, clarity of thought, and ability to resolve problems quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, adaptable to any audience level.
  • Logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivation, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm to be involved.
  • Sociable and communicative, with the ability to fit in with a fast-paced, results-driven team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Aptitude for progressive training.
  • Comfortable working at height.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A trade apprenticeship with a minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the industry, maintenance, or installation background.
  • GCSE-level education or equivalent in Maths, English, and Science subjects.
  • Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (O.N.C. or C&G Certificate).
  • Proven ability in fault finding.
  • Full clean driving license.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills, with an electrical bias.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • C&G 2079 F Gas and ODS Regulations.
  • BS EN 378:2008.
  • BS 7671 18th Edition regulations.
  • Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391) or equivalent.
  • C&G 2377-77 EET/PAT Testing or equivalent.
  • Counterbalance FLT License.
  • IPAF 3a/3b.
  • PASMA.
