About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine to join our team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our respiratory medicine department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership in in-patient medicine and supervise junior medical staff and multi-professional trainees as required.
  • Contribute to education and work towards accreditation as a Clinical and Educational Supervisor.
  • Contribute to departmental audit and clinical governance.
  • Provide cross-cover for annual/study leave and short-term sickness for other consultants in the department as agreed within the teams.
  • Perform any other duties that are considered necessary for the efficient working of the service and which are mutually agreed to be relevant to the post as the pattern of service evolves.
  • Participate in administrative and management roles of the department in conjunction with other consultants.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • GMC registration and MRCP or equivalent.
  • Specialist Register for GIM and Endocrinology & Diabetes Mellitus via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR.
  • Clinical skills in Internal Medicine equivalent to completion of Higher Speciality Training in General Internal Medicine, and Diabetes.
  • Clinical skills in a Diabetes equivalent to completion of Higher Speciality Training.
  • Experience in clinical audit, patient safety initiatives, and service improvement.
  • Teaching experience to medical and non-medical staff.
  • Good organisational ability and a willingness to be flexible in accordance with the demands of the team.
