Trainee Jointer Linesperson

UK Power Networks Job Opportunity:

This Trainee Jointer/Linesperson position is now available in our UK Power Networks team, based in the Braintree office. As a permanent employee, you will work within network operations, reporting to the field staff supervisor.

Key responsibilities include assisting in the delivery of Distribution Capital Delivery projects, restoration of electrical supplies, and site-based operations. You will work with overhead lines, underground networks, and various plant and equipment, connections, and earthing.

We offer a competitive salary of £38,219 per annum (dependent on skills and experience) and a bonus of 3%. Additional benefits include annual leave, a personal pension plan, tenancy loan deposit scheme, and tax-efficient benefits.

Job Requirements:

• Carry out construction, maintenance, and reporting work for overhead lines and underground networks.
• Perform works following UK Power Networks policies, procedures, and standards.
• Immediately report to line manager any breaches of health and safety regulations or unsafe occurrences.
• Use meters and instruments and record readings.
• Assist in resistance, thermal, and height measurements on overhead lines.
• Operate communications/data transmission and display equipment.
• Switches, isolates, and earths when authorized to do so.
• Undertake standby duties and remove traffic management, old poles, and debris from sites.
• Help maintain yards and pole dump areas to ensure safe working conditions.
• Promote UK Power Networks to the public and other teams, adhering to customer service standards.

As a Trainee Jointer/Linesperson, you will ensure you understand the health and safety risks involved in your work activities and apply the necessary controls to manage these risks. You must also be aware of the environmental impacts of your work and apply the required controls.
