Patent Examiner Role at the Intellectual Property Office

We are seeking highly skilled and motivated scientists, engineers, and mathematicians to join our team as Patent Examiners. As a Patent Examiner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of innovation by examining patents and ensuring that intellectual property rights are protected.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in science, engineering, maths, computing, telecommunications, or a related field. They will also possess excellent technical skills, including the ability to understand and evaluate scientific and technical information to reach accurate conclusions. In addition, they will have well-developed problem-solving skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, maths, computing, telecommunications, or a related field
  • Equivalent proficiency through substantial industrial experience in technical roles
  • Established knowledge in science, engineering, maths, computing, telecommunications, or a related field, detailing how you have applied and embedded your technical knowledge in practical situations
  • Ability to understand and evaluate scientific and technical information to reach accurate conclusions

The estimated salary for this position is £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive benefits package, including flexible working arrangements, 25 days annual leave, and a generous pension scheme.
