Job Title: Science Technician

Protocol Education is seeking a skilled Science Technician to join our team in an educational institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting teachers in preparing and conducting practical science experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, and ensuring health and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in preparing and conducting practical science experiments
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure it is in good working order
  • Order supplies and materials as needed
  • Ensure health and safety standards are met and maintained
  • Support students during laboratory sessions
Requirements:
  • A minimum of a relevant science qualification, such as a BTEC or NVQ in Science
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Good understanding of laboratory procedures and health and safety regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional certifications in laboratory safety or relevant scientific fields
Working Conditions:

The Science Technician will primarily work in a laboratory setting within an educational institution. The role may involve some lifting of equipment and exposure to chemicals, requiring adherence to strict health and safety protocols.

We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education', this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.

We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.
