Afterschool Club Playworker Assistant Role Description

The Plus Staff Recruitment team invites applications for an experienced Support Worker to join our after-school club team as a Playworker Assistant. This role involves providing supervision and assistance to children aged 5-11 years old at a primary school in Forest Hill.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Safeguarding: Create a safe and engaging environment for children, ensuring their well-being and happiness during sessions.
  • Monitoring and Recording: Supervise pupils during arrival, departure, and toilet visits, maintaining accurate records as necessary.
  • Collaborative Planning: Contribute to planning engaging activities that meet the needs and interests of the children, promoting their overall development.
  • Data Management: Log pupil collection times and names of collectors, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • No Child Left Behind: Ensure the safety and supervision of all children at all times, adhering to established protocols.
  • Nutrition and Wellness: Plan and prepare healthy snacks and refreshments, promoting healthy eating habits among children.
  • Provision of Support: Assist with various activities throughout the session, offering guidance and support as needed.
  • Communication and Flexibility: Respond promptly and professionally to requests from the Breakfast & After School Clubs Manager, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Previous Work Experience: Previous experience working with young children, preferably in a childcare setting.
  • Desirable Qualification: A relevant childcare qualification (Level 2 or above) is desirable but not essential; however, strong interpersonal skills are crucial.
  • Establishing Trust: Demonstrate personal warmth and approachability, establishing trust with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders, communicating effectively and sensitively when required.
  • Pupil Development Focus: Show commitment to the personal growth and development of pupils, fostering an inclusive and respectful environment.
  • Professional Boundaries: Develop effective working relationships with colleagues, parents, and other professionals, upholding professional standards and ethics.
Salary Range: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum
