Senior Government Affairs Manager

At Urenco Group, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Senior Government Affairs Manager. This position will be responsible for engaging with government officials and stakeholders to support the company's commercial objectives and promote its interests in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- To proactively engage with government officials and stakeholders to shape policy development and new laws and regulations that impact Urenco Group's business in the UK.
- To provide thought leadership and advocacy on the role of nuclear energy in the UK's energy mix and its contribution to a decarbonised world.
- To create targeted external communications with UK government officials and collaborate with the nuclear industry in the UK.
- To work closely with Urenco Group colleagues, especially in Legal and Government Affairs, and external advisers to manage the latter.
- To deliver and provide input to global government affairs projects, which will become more significant with the UK's departure from the EU.
Requirements:
- Educated to degree level (post-grad qualification preferred).
- Excellent cross-Whitehall understanding and network, including an understanding of political parties, their platforms, and key decision-makers.
- Appreciation of public policy surrounding nuclear issues, Net Zero, COP, and the role of nuclear energy with renewables.
- MS Office user, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience of working within the energy or nuclear sector or other 'In-house' government relations experience in a highly regulated sector.
- Experience working in Whitehall or demonstrable level of working closely with UK government is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to create targeted external communications, ideally with UK government officials and industry bodies.
- Management of internal and external stakeholders and external advice.
