Job Summary

Main Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Operations Manager and take charge of the business unit, working with autonomy and authority to act on behalf of the Operations Manager.
  • Manage the service areas, ensuring the delivery of key targets within the budgeted resources available.
  • Contribute to strategic and annual business planning for the business unit, including the engagement of senior medical and other staff.
  • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of service improvement, capital, and other projects for the business unit.
  • Lead clinical governance processes within the business unit and assist in the management of risk.

  • Proven experience in senior operational management within a clinical area covering multiple specialties and pathways.
  • Knowledge of inpatient, outpatient, and diagnostic requirements of pathways.
  • Proven experience in improvement and service transformation.
  • Experience in the development and use of a range of IT systems.
  • Proven experience of managing a team, including appraisal skills, recruitment and selection skills, disciplinary and capability procedures, and experience in workforce planning to ensure service continuity.
