Role Overview:


We are seeking a skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team at Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in York. The successful candidate will work closely with patients who have acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke, and spinal cord injury.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
  • Develop evidence-led therapy programmes for patients at a specialist level, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary working to achieve the best outcomes for our patients
  • Ensure high standards of clinical care in line with national guidance for excellence
  • Named Therapist duties to ensure cohesive goal-setting and therapy and coordinating discharge
  • Develop skills in clinical supervision and informal mentoring of Speech and Language Therapy assistants and students
  • Participate in internal training (induction, mandatory training, MDT in-service)
  • Ensure all relevant codes of practice and regulations are upheld
  • Participate in service delivery audit and quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff

Requirements:



  • HCPC registration
  • Previous experience of working in a neurorehabilitation setting
  • Experience in working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria, apraxia, and dysphagia is essential
  • Specialist level dysphagia competency on RCSLT framework
  • Ability to motivate patients over long periods
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
