Job Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist to lead our laboratory team at Health Services Laboratories, providing a comprehensive laboratory medicine service to clients. As a Senior Biomedical Scientist, you will be responsible for ensuring that all testing is performed safely, accurately, and in a timely manner.

About the Role:

This exciting opportunity involves coordinating and participating in routine processing of specimens, allocating work to staff members, and ensuring smooth workflow. You will also participate in technical work as required, maintain and ensure safe use of equipment, and contribute to audit activities. Additionally, you will assist in developing rotas with senior biomedical staff, coordinate supplies of laboratory consumables and reagents, and manage their stock control.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and participate in routine specimen processing.
2. Ensure requested investigations are performed in a timely manner.
3. Handle specialized and urgent specimens appropriately.
4. Participate in technical work as required.
5. Maintain and ensure safe use of equipment.
6. Assist in developing rotas with senior biomedical staff.
7. Coordinate adequate supplies of laboratory consumables and reagents.
8. Contribute to audit activities.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will possess a qualification in pathology disciplines consistent with State Registration requirements, an MSc or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, current registration with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and a Specialist Diploma in a relevant discipline. Essential skills and abilities include good organizational skills, ability to work accurately and efficiently, ability to work in a team, basic keyboard skills, and effective communication in English. Experience working in a routine diagnostic laboratory and demonstrating knowledge of a laboratory Quality Management System is also essential.

Salary and Benefits:
