About the Role

Westlakes Recruit is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer - Nuclear Safety to join our team on a permanent basis. This role will be based in Barrow with hybrid working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting Lead Nuclear Safety Engineering Activities: Provide technical expertise to resolve emergent issues during the Build and Commission of the Plant, utilizing common Safety Engineering techniques where applicable.
  • Intelligent Customer for Documentation and Advice: Act as the primary point of contact for documentation, advice, and services related to the Plant and safety case provided to the company.
  • Developing Technical Solutions: Create sound technical solutions to issues arising during construction and commissioning of the Plant.
  • Authoring Inputs to the Office of the Chief Engineer: Provide technical inputs to the Office of the Chief Engineer advising on compliance against design and build requirements in support of entry into build phases.
  • Liaising with Customers: Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure their requirements are adequately supported and their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate.
Requirements
  • Degree Level Qualification: Possess a degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as Engineering or Physical Science.
  • Technical Report Writing: Demonstrate competence in technical report writing.
Desirable Skills
  • Engineering Experience: Possess engineering experience in design and build of systems, including an understanding of the role that safety and quality play.
  • Leadership and Investigation Skills: Ability to lead engineering investigations, including Root Cause Analysis.
  • Communication and Influence: The ability to constructively challenge and influence others, while putting forward clear, concise, and credible reasoning to support judgments.
