We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and influence real policies that can affect lives for the better.

About the Role

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for bringing influence with key decision makers through our campaigns and policy positions. You will support our policy function and drive a range of public affairs activities to engage and build relationships across Government, Parliament, and the Civil Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective public affairs strategies to promote our policy interests and influence Government decision-making.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Government officials, Parliamentarians, and civil servants.
  • Provide expert advice and support to our policy team on public affairs matters.
  • Contribute to the development of our policy positions and campaigns.
  • Monitor and analyze public affairs developments and provide regular updates to the team.

YMCA England & Wales is the national council for 116 YMCAs across England and Wales. Each YMCA is an independent charity that affiliates to YMCA England & Wales. We support local YMCAs by promoting high standards of working and sharing best practice. We drive the national brand strategy, campaigns, and policy and research, advising and supporting YMCAs to engage communities, stakeholders, and supporters locally. We give YMCAs a national voice by speaking with government, key policy makers, and national media, and we represent them by advocating the needs of young people in England and Wales.
