Barclay Meade Academic Tutor Position

We are seeking a dedicated English Tutor to join our team at Barclay Meade. This permanent, full-time role offers a unique opportunity to make a substantial impact on learners' lives within a prison education context.

  3. Skill Development: Supporting learners in developing Functional Skills in English, with a focus on literacy and numeracy skills development.
  4. Progress Assessment: Assessing learners' progress and providing ongoing feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
  5. Collaboration: Collaborating with colleagues to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement of the curriculum, promoting teamwork and communication.
  6. Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with policies and procedures, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
  7. Security Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all security and vetting requirements as mandated by the Ministry of Justice.
Key Requirements for Success
  • Teaching Qualification: Holding a teaching qualification or subject specialist qualification at Level 4 (Level 5 for new standards).
  • Literacy and Numeracy: Possessing a minimum Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Experience in Teaching: Having experience in teaching Functional Skills, particularly in English, with a strong commitment to improving learners' outcomes.
  • Commitment to Improvement: Demonstrating a strong commitment to improving learners' outcomes and supporting their personal development.
  • Communication Skills: Exhibiting excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with learners, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Teamwork: Being able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, promoting a positive and supportive learning culture.
  • Adaptability: Showing resilience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards working in a challenging environment.
  • Eligibility: Holding full right to work in the UK.
