Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Primary School
Contract Type: Part-Time
Salary: £12.90-14.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Role Summary:
The Behaviour Support Assistant will work closely with students, teachers, and support staff to address and manage behavioural issues, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with behaviour-related challenges, helping them develop self-regulation, resilience, and social skills
- Work closely with teachers to implement behaviour management strategies tailored to individual students
- Provide one-on-one and group support for students, helping to maintain a calm and supportive classroom atmosphere
- Assist in developing and implementing Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) and other support strategies
- Encourage positive behaviour and celebrate achievements to boost students' self-esteem and motivation
- Liaise with parents, caregivers, and other staff members to keep all parties informed of students' progress
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of behaviour-related incidents and interventions
- Participate in training sessions and professional development to stay informed about best practices in behaviour support
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working with children or young adults, particularly in a support or educational role
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques
- Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- A genuine passion for helping students succeed and a commitment to inclusive education
- Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or child development are a plus
