About the Role:

Cancer Research UK is seeking a skilled Senior Procurement Category Manager to join our Procurement team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for owning the Marketing procurement category, which includes managing 140+ suppliers and £120m+ spend.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Category Strategy & Planning:
    • Develop and maintain the Procurement strategy for the Marketing category.
    • Consider supply market analysis, category risks, and business requirements to identify opportunities for added value and efficiency, as well as risk mitigation to protect Cancer Research UK's interests.
    • Implement Marketing category strategies and monitor performance against agreed initiatives.
    • Define Marketing's sourcing strategy for individual goods and services while establishing and maintaining preferred supplier lists.
  • Sourcing to Contract:
    • Lead contract negotiations and draft commercial schedules.
  • Contract & Supplier Management:
    • Communicate preferred Marketing supplier arrangements and transition contracts to the relevant contract manager.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage Marketing's contract governance, compliance, spend, and lifecycle.
    • Support and lead in managing supplier performance and risks to ensure value for money and risk mitigation.
    • Develop strategic Marketing supplier relationships to identify joint opportunities for added value and innovation.

Requirements:

  • Procurement professional from a large organisation with experience managing a large category (c.£100m+).
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of managing complex Marketing contracts and suppliers.
  • Strong planning and prioritisation with an ability to manage workload independently.
  • Comfortable manipulating and presenting data with strong IT skills (i.e., Microsoft Packages including Excel and e-procurement/ e-sourcing systems).
