About the Role

The Head of Indirect Tax is a key position within our Finance department. The Tax Team is a growing, centralised function responsible for managing all direct and indirect taxes across the Group to ensure compliance with local regulations in each country where we operate.

We seek a tax professional to support the Director of Tax in a specialist role working across various indirect tax compliance and advisory tasks.

  • Lead and advise the tax compliance team on indirect tax treatment of new transactions.
  • Provide expertise on indirect tax matters, resolving queries from finance and business.
  • Evaluate and ensure the accuracy of worldwide indirect tax filings, including those completed by external providers.
  • Collaborate with the VAT Project Manager and compliance team to identify and implement VAT changes, process, and technology improvements.
  • Identify and advise on indirect tax changes impacting our business, supporting necessary business adjustments.
  • Develop and lead regular indirect tax training for the team and wider functions.
  • Manage all indirect tax enquiries from tax authorities.
  • Contribute to improving cash/value opportunities through insightful analysis of indirect taxes across the group.

This role involves collaborating closely with the Director of Tax on project work, including determining the correct VAT treatment for restructures, new product lines, and service offerings.

You will also support M&A activity from an indirect perspective, encompassing due diligence, structuring, and transitioning new business acquisitions.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A strong understanding of indirect tax principles, ideally with ATT/CTA qualifications and at least 5 years of experience in this field.
  • Experience in preparing indirect tax returns, either in practice or another in-house role.
  • Excellent Excel skills and knowledge of relevant systems.
  • An ability to build strong relationships with members of the Finance Team and wider business teams.
