About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Planner to join our UK Build Division in Cardiff. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and programming the design, procurement, and construction activities associated with our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain baseline contract programmes, incorporating all aspects of design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Lead the preparation of construction programmes, highlighting areas of improvement against the contract programme and preparing tender event programmes for subcontractor procurement.
- Maintain electronic files and administration of planning and programme documents, utilizing the common data environment (CDE).
- Provide programme information as required to support the management team and produce project prelim books, including staff resource, logistics, and temporary works requirements.
- Develop 4D graphical models and 2D phasing plans to represent the sequence of build, phasing, and logistics, engaging with the supply chain to develop project programmes.
- Review risk and opportunities for every programme produced, highlighting potential mitigation measures and including float and time risk allowances.
- Develop tracking schedules to maintain information and control the production of programmes by subcontractors, keeping an as-built programme and inputting to change requests as required.
- Use 4D models and/or 2D phasing information to highlight current progress positions and produce validated output rates with clarifications to track live progress.
Management Responsibilities
- Report back to the Regional Planner on the current programme position on all projects, reviewing programmes, outputs, and phasing regularly.
- Carry out Performance Development Plans (PDPs) with assistant planners, driving through actions and activities identified in individual development plans.
- Lead and coordinate with others in planning and programme management in the preconstruction and construction phases.
- Input to the assessment of programme and entitlements under the contract, coordinating outputs with the management team.
- Lead input to programme reporting, weekly and monthly as required, and report the programme position at the monthly contract review meeting.
- Check the quality of planning and programme documents, including those produced by the site teams and assistant planners.
Requirements
- Successful track record of working with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders on live construction projects.
- Experience of working within a team and managing Planning teams.
- Extensive knowledge of UK and EU legal frameworks, particularly contract management.
- Relevant degree or diploma, qualifications in construction management, and certification for the use of planning and programme software.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies, where applicable, and advanced training in Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6, and contract awareness.
