Job Overview:

The Morgan Philips Group SA is seeking a skilled Regulatory Lawyer to join their team. As a key member of the British Horseracing Authority, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and growth of the sport.

This role involves providing regulatory legal advice, supporting the Regulatory team, and managing cases from investigation to final hearing. You will work closely with investigators, lawyers, and external stakeholders to progress cases and promote confidence within the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload within the team
  • Support non-lawyers with legal matters
  • Collaborate with investigators and lawyers to progress cases
  • Act as liaison between the BHA and external parties
  • Case manage prosecutions under the Rules of Racing, Code of Conduct, or Safeguarding Regulations
  • Draft witness statements and other documentation
  • Provide regulatory advice to BHA employees
  • Assist the Investigations Team with investigations and evidence assessment
  • Prepare case bundles for inquiries
  • Present cases to the Disciplinary Panel
  • Develop knowledge of the Rules of Racing and draft rule amendments
  • Advise stakeholders on the Rules of Racing

About You:

  • Fully qualified lawyer with an appropriate practising certificate
  • Previous experience managing a complex caseload in a confidential environment
  • Experience operating in a confidential and sensitive manner
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask
  • Discretion and diplomacy under pressure
