Grants Officer Job Description

Our client, GET STAFFED ONLINE RECRUITMENT LIMITED, is seeking an experienced Grants Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing funding through written bids to support the organization's work with young people in central Doncaster.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and submit applications to trusts, foundations, and similar organizations to secure funding for the organization's programs and projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funders, including researching and identifying potential funding opportunities.
  • Work with the Chief Executive to agree on full cost recovery arrangements and ensure that all applications are aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Manage a portfolio of trusts, foundations, and similar organizations, developing knowledge of their interests and requirements.
  • Prepare and submit strong applications to funders, matching the organization's cases for support with the funders' interests and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain efficient evaluation and monitoring systems to meet funder requirements.
  • Oversee the accurate completion of returns and reports, ensuring that funders are satisfied and funding continues.
  • Keep comprehensive records of all interactions with funders, from initial contact to funding agreement and subsequent monitoring and evaluation.
  • Supervise and support volunteers and less experienced staff in applying for smaller grants.
  • Comply with fundraising and other legislation relevant to the role.
  • Recommend updates to the Fundraising Policy in accordance with changes to legislation or operating practice.
  • Report to the Chief Executive monthly on progress and outcomes.
Person Specification:
  • A recent track record of success in securing funding through written bids in an employed role focused on grants or similar fundraising.
  • Experience covering the full cycle of grants fundraising, including creating cases for support, submitting applications, responding to requests for information or visits, monitoring and evaluation.
  • An understanding of the current UK grants / trusts climate and the types of funders likely to support the organization's work.
  • Self-motivated and self-supporting, with the ability to work independently and deal with unexpected or challenging situations.
  • Able to supervise and support volunteers and others to complete strong applications efficiently.
  • Ability to create and work with project budgets and projections.
  • Computer literate, able to use Microsoft Word and Excel to a high standard, and able to use technology in devising and using procedures, gathering information and completing online and electronic applications.
  • Exceptionally strong written communication skills, a strong command of grammar and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Able to articulate the organization's work effectively and create compelling written applications for support.
  • Experience of maintaining confidentiality and appropriate relationships and a clear understanding of the importance of those.
  • Able to represent the organization positively, professionally, and with credibility.
