Field Services Engineer

Job Summary

Thales is seeking a highly skilled Field Services Engineer to join our team at our Cheadle site. As a Field Services Engineer, you will be responsible for the deployment, setting to work, and in-service support of Sonar and Electronic Warfare Systems deployed on Royal Navy and export customers' ships and submarines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, set to work, and provide in-service support for Sonar and Electronic Warfare Systems
  • Conduct and supervise front-line support, including fault diagnosis and testing, as well as acceptance trials both in harbour and at sea
  • Provide on-call telephone support to customers
  • Write site visit reports and post-maintenance reports
  • Support maintenance periods and refits, including conducting pre-upkeep maintenance assessments and scheduled maintenance activities
  • Escalate engineering issues to the Field Services Manager or Service Delivery Manager as required
  • Comply with all export control rules and regulations, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

Requirements

  • Significant experience of working with electronic equipment, with some experience of electrical and hydraulic systems an advantage
  • Network/IT experience would also be beneficial
  • Experience of working with the armed forces, with an understanding of their procedures, would be an advantage
  • Ability to follow procedures, but also suggest improvements based on own experience and knowledge
  • Happy to work at heights and within confined spaces
  • Willingness to spend time away from the factory, often responding at short notice to customer needs

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 07:00am - 15:30pm, Friday: 07:00am - 12:00pm
