Apprentice Controls Specialist

Salary: c£70k (neg dep exp) + benefits
Our client is a leading provider of hardware and software design, robot systems integration, and commissioning of bespoke automation solutions. They are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer / PLC Software Engineer to join their successful software team.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage individual projects at an engineering and client level, ensuring timely completion and adherence to standards.
- Develop bespoke software routines and functions to enable machines and systems to operate safely and efficiently.
- Implement safety software for systems using safety controllers, in accordance with BS-EN13849.
- Ensure all systems and software are thoroughly tested and quality-checked before shipping and commissioning.
- Commission bespoke systems at Head Office and customer sites within the UK, with occasional overseas visits.
- Work away from the office, up to 70% of the year, with all costs covered by the client.
- Undertake additional training as required and adhere to relevant Health and Safety legislation.
- Proven skills in PLC programming, HMI screen development, and on-site commissioning of industrial automation.
- Experience with safety controllers, drive configuration, and motor control.
- Strong understanding of Profinet, Ethernet, and Profibus industrial communications systems.
- Hold a full UK driving license and possess excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to work away within the UK as part of a controls team under project management direction.
- Qualified to HND or above in a relevant electrical, electromechanical, or controls qualification.
