Job Summary:

This position will contribute to the project "Optical Functional Imaging For Metabolic Cell Model Engineering and Profiling" within the Institute of Micro and Nano Systems at the University of Edinburgh, which is funded by Wellcome Trust and in collaboration with colleagues at School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences, King's College London.

The role is UE07 and is available on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of optical functional imaging techniques for metabolic cell model engineering and profiling.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement hardware and software solutions for time-resolved fluorescence imaging.
  • Develop and maintain software tools for data acquisition and image processing.
  • Design and develop PCBs for camera systems.
  • Program FPGAs using hardware description languages.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of microscopy image and data processing techniques.
  • Experience in optical system development for time-resolved fluorescence imaging.
  • Hardware interfacing and PCB design skills.
  • Software tools for data acquisition and image processing.
  • Experience in FPGA programming.
