Job Title: Mental Health Practitioner for Children and Young People

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team in Derby and Derbyshire. As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in improving access to high-quality support for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Deliver structured, evidence-based, therapy-informed interventions to children and young people across Derby and Derbyshire.
  • Provide supervision to Emotional Wellbeing Practitioners and advice and consultation support to professionals and education staff within a defined locality.
  • Contribute to a single integrated duty system for early intervention mental health services provided by Compass.
Requirements:
  • Core professional qualification relevant to mental health, e.g. CWP IAPT, PMHW, nursing with specialism in mental health or learning disability nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • Youth Mental Health First Aid trained.
  • Therapeutic post-graduate qualification (preferably in CBT).
Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge of educational environments.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues.
  • Knowledge of capacity and consent issues including Gillick competence.
  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families and others.
  • Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders.

Compass Changing Lives is the new provider of the Early Intervention and Targeted Support Service in the city of Derby and Derbyshire. We have a successful track record in early intervention health and wellbeing services for children and young people.

We use a wide range of creative and dynamic methods of engagement, including digital interventions, across community and educational settings.
