Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Receptionist to join our team at North Street Medical Care. As a key member of our front desk team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare professionals.

Main Responsibilities

Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system

Process personal, telephone, and e-requests for appointments

Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the caller's request appropriately

Signpost patients to the correct service

Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies

Photocopy documentation as required

Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required

Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary

Direct requests for information, SAR, insurance/solicitors letters, and DVLA forms to the administrative team

Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

Carry out system searches as requested

Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards

Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

Book transport and interpreter

Taking payment from patients using Sumup payment card reader and petty cash

Person Specification

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent

Experience of working with the general public

Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

Strong IT skills

Clear, polite telephone manner

Competent in the use of Office and Outlook

Effective time management (Planning & Organising)

Ability to work as a team member and autonomously

Good interpersonal skills

Problem-solving & analytical skills

Ability to follow policy and procedure

Desirable

GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)

AMSPAR Receptionists Qualification

NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care

EMIS user skills

Experience

Previous public-facing administration/reception role in a busy environment is an advantage. A good command of spoken and written English is essential.
