We are seeking an exceptional Chief Data Science Director to join our Data Science team, responsible for leading the research and development of ML/AI services. You will be instrumental in building, leading, and nurturing a high-performing data science team that drives commercial goals.

The role involves:

  1. Implementing data science projects and approaches to support business objectives.
  2. Developing a highly skilled team of Machine Learning Engineers, promoting collaborative ways of working.
  3. Collaborating with tech, product, and data teams to develop data platforms that enable the application of data science and embedding it directly in our products and processes.
  4. Supporting diverse teams in translating between business and data in project design and communicating results.
  5. Championing the application of data science across the Kingfisher group.
  6. Contributing to developing a 'data culture' and demonstrating its value in decision-making.
  7. Leading efforts to develop the data science brand for both internal and external audiences.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality AI-based products and productionising Machine Learning-based products.
  • Experience developing cloud-based machine learning services using one or more cloud providers (preferably GCP).
  • An excellent understanding of classical Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and Python's ecosystem for data analysis.
  • Strong software development skills, with Python as the preferred language.
  • Proven experience in deploying ML/AI services using Kubernetes & KubeFlow.
  • Strong management and leadership skills, with previous experience managing a team.
  • Excellent influencing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
